You can measure the kinematic viscosity of your lubricant in the first cell at 40 °C, while the second cell measures your sample at 100 °C at the same time. The instrument automatically calculates the viscosity index (VI) compliant with ASTM D2270 and reports it on the screen in real-time.
Or you can measure kinematic viscosity of your lube oil at 40 °C, while measuring its density simultaneously at 15 °C, avoiding a separate measurement and saving your valuable time.

Save time, effort, and sample: With its double-cell design, SVM 4001 is the ultimate standardized solution for the determination of lubricant viscosity and viscosity index from a sample volume as low as 2.5 mL. SVM 4001 also enables you to measure kinematic viscosity and density simultaneously at any two different temperatures between 15 °C and 100 °C – all in one instrument.
