HEPA/ULPA air filter media

Full description
HEPA filter is an acronym for High-Efficiency Particulate Arrestance, and it is a type of air filter. They are composed of a mat of randomly arranged fibres. The fibres are typically composed of fiberglass and possess diameters between 0.5 and 2.0 μm. HEPA filters are designed to screen particles larger than 0.3 μm with an efficiency of 99.95%, but they do not filter out gasses and odor molecules. It works by forcing air through a fine mesh that traps harmful particles such as pollen, pet dander, dust mites, and tobacco smoke.
ULPA is an acronym for Ultra-Low Particulate Air. An ULPA filter can remove from the air at least 99.9999% for 0.12 μm or larger particles. ULPA filters are closely related to HEPA filters but are even more efficient. These filters are used in air filtration and purification systems to control airborne particulate levels and to stop the spread of toxic agents and infectious diseases. They can remove dust, pollen, mold, bacteria and any airborne particles from 0.12 μm.
CHMLAB manufactures media in all efficiency ranges of interest to the cleanroom industry – efficiencies from 99.95% to 99.9999% for 0.12 μm particle size. CHMLAB air filters are produced on a paper machine especially designed for the processing of micro-glass fibres. Only high-purity borosilicate glass fibres are employed, in thicknesses ranging from 0.2 to 2.0 μm, depending on the required level of efficiency. These products are then converted into a variety of shapes and configurations to suit a multitude of industrial, medical, electronics and personal protection applications.

Applications:
HEPA and ULPA filters are used in applications requiring very efficient filtering of airborne pathogens that can cause aggravate asthma and cause allergies or disease. These filters are also useful in manufacturing environments that require very clean air. Some applications include:

• Air pollution
• Biological safety cabinets
• Pharmaceutical
• Surgical/Operating room air purification
• Clinical/healthcare facility air purification
• Vacuum cleaning systems
• Critical product manufacture
• Hazardous material collection
• Biotechnology
• Food processing
• Airline cabin air purifiers

Particle removal efficiencies are closely monitored for each grade enabling the customer to make better decisions in selecting media for your specific HEPA/ULPA application.
The test stand measures particle sizes from 0.05 to 0.5 μm with extreme accuracy.
CHMLAB can also supply specially engineered grades.
