UV Lamp 4 and UV Cabinet 4

Full description

UV Lamp 4

Key features
• Two UV tubes for illumination (1 × UV 254 nm and 1 × UV 366 nm, each 8W)
• Convenient handling through one button operation for each UV tube
• Homogeneous illumination
• Improved user safety through tilt sensor and timer (automatic switch-off after 10 min)
Two types of UV light are required for inspecting thin-layer chromatograms:

Long-wave UV light 366 nm
Under long-wave UV light substances that can be excited to fluoresce appear as bright spots, often differently colored, on a dark background. The sensitivity of this detection method increases with the intensity of the UV light and also as more visible light is eliminated.

Short-wave UV light 254 nm
Under 254 nm UV substances absorbing at that wavelength become visible, provided the TLC layer contains a fluorescent indicator, e.g. F254. These substances appear as dark spots on a bright background (fluorescence quenching).

UV Cabinet 4

The UV Cabinet 4 is designed for inspecting thin-layer chromatograms or other objects under UV light in absence of ambient light.

UV Cabinet

The UV Cabinet 4 consists of a CAMAG UV Lamp 4 and the Viewing Box 4. The front of the Viewing Box 4 is closed with a roller shutter. Eyes are protected by the UV filter in the viewing window. The distance between UV lamp and object is optimally selected for homogeneous illumination and observation of the entire plate through the viewing window.

Key features
• Minimum space requirements through reduced footprint
• Eyes protected through UV filter in the viewing window
• Almost no influence of ambient light
• For any plate format up to 20 x 20 cm
